What is car sharing?
Car sharing enables car owners to rent out their vehicles to nearby renters in exchange for money.
By renting out your car, you can help members of your community get to where they need to be and reduce emissions by decreasing the need for new cars. With driver telematics to support safer driving and contactless car collection, car sharing has never been easier.

How does it work?
Sharing your car on Karshare is a great way to earn extra income whenever your vehicle is not in use. Our technology allows renters to book and access your car without you having to lift a finger.
When your car has been onboarded to our platform, you will be asked to select the dates and times you want to make it available for each month. This means that all vehicles are instantly bookable and renters can see which cars are available in real time.
If a renter in your area selects your car, you will be notified via email and the Karshare App with all the details, including your earnings.
Before your first rental, the Karshare team will provide you with a sanitisation kit to help manage the cleanliness of the car before rental. Renters will use the same kit to clean again at the end of each rental.
We ask that both owners and renters please follow our Covid-19 cleaning instructions so everyone can enjoy a clean car experience.

First steps
Create an account
Sign up with your vehicle registration number, email address and password. We will confirm your car's eligibility.
Share your location
Provide your car’s parking address to check if we are operational in your area. Only confirmed renters will be able to see this full address.
Set your dates
Tell us when you want to rent out your car. We require you car a minimum of 15 days every month (including 2 weekend days in total.)
View earnings
When you enter the number of days your car is available for, we will calculate your potential earnings.
How does insurance work?
Our insurance partner, QBE, provides fully comprehensive insurance during the full rental period (pick up to drop off) with a replacement value of up to £50,000.
If a renter has an accident while driving your car, you will be fully covered. Karshare will cover the cost for all repairs. If your car needs to be taken away to be repaired, we will provide you with a courtesy car so you are not left without a vehicle.

To share your vehicle on Karshare, it needs to:
- Be less than 13 years old
- Have less than 100,000 miles on the clock
- Have comprehensive insurance and a valid MOT and Tax
- Be a UK registered vehicle
- Be available to rent 15 days a month (incl. 6 weekend days

Keyless tech
In order to complete the process and share your car with the Karshare community, we will need to fit our KarshareGo technology.
We do not charge an upfront fee for the installation but take a 20% cut of your initial rental earnings until the balance has been paid. The total cost of the keyless technology is £195.
