Getting your car ready for winter
As the nights are getting longer and the temperature is dropping, we want to make sure you're fully prepared for winter. Are you currently sharing your car with others? That's great - the Christmas period is always a busy one, so you'll want to make sure everyone sharing your car is set up safely for their journey. To encourage people to return to your car the next time they rent, follow these steps to get your car winter ready and help your rentals run smoothly.
Ice scraper and de-icer
It might sound pretty basic, but this can be a lifesaver to someone collecting your car who turns up to a frosted over windscreen. It's worth guaranteeing that they have all the tools needed to correctly de-ice your car.
Check your oil (& AdBlue if applicable)
Checking and topping up your oil not only helps avoid engine damage, but it reduces chances of a potential breakdown. If you've got a busy period of rentals ahead of you, we'd recommend topping up the oil now to ensure there's enough for your upcoming rentals.
Check your tyres
In order to maintain a good grip in wet and icy conditions, you should make sure all four of your tyres have at least 3mm of tread and are inflated to the correct pressure. If you're thinking of changing your tyres, now is the time to do it! Read the RAC's advice on checking your tyres here.
Use an effective screen wash
Not only should you check that there's enough windscreen washer fluid in your car, but it's worth using a good quality screen wash that remains effective in cold temperatures. Remember that colder conditions mean a more concentrated solution is required to prevent freezing.
Make a winter breakdown kit
Want to take it a step further and give your renters total peace of mind? If so, leaving equipment such as a torch, blankets, first aid kit or jump start cables in the boot of your car could create the ultimate winter breakdown kit. Add this to your car's description on the platform and let potential renters know that you're thinking of them!
