Can you rent a car with a debit card?
The short answer, yes! You can easily rent a car on Karshare with a debit card.
In fact, using a debit or credit card is the only way you can pay for car rentals at Karshare. In order to set this up you just need to add your preferred payment details to your account. If you haven’t yet created an account you can sign up here. Once you’ve added your debit or credit card details, you’ll be ready to pay for rentals!
When do I pay for the rental?
Start off by searching on our website or download the Karshare app to browse nearby cars. Once you’ve selected your chosen car for your rental and selected your insurance excess, you’ll be taken to the checkout. This is where you’ll pay for your rental with your debit card. All vehicles on Karshare are instantly bookable so you can search, book and pay within minutes.
What about my deposit?
Every rental requires a £250 deposit which is taken a few days before your rental is due to start. This is returned to the same account that you paid with and will reach you within 7 days of your rental ending. Be sure that you’ve got enough in your account so the deposit can be taken, as the rental can’t be started without this.
What if I am due a refund?
There are multiple reasons you may need a refund from Karshare. For instance, if you return the car with higher fuel levels than when you picked it up, you’ll receive money back from us! Or if the car owner unfortunately needs to cancel your rental, you’ll be fully refunded. Any refund you receive will be sent directly to the account you used to pay with within 7 days.
Is there another way I can pay for a rental?
If you’re looking to pay for car rentals with dogecoins, we don’t accept cryptocurrency payments... yet! We use the payment provider Stripe which means we can accept payments from VISA, VISA Debit, MasterCard & American Express.
However, if you have Karshare Credits in your account then these can also be used to pay for rentals. Karshare Credits can be earned by referring friends to Karshare.
